August 25 – These speakers are great. Simple as that. The Prophecy 9’s have seen off some stiff competition of late and are our top pick for Best Speaker under £10,000 right now.  A set of KEF Reference 3 Meta fell by wayside against the PMC’s most recently – a good speaker by many a review but in this company it was a clear choice. We have been very impressed with the new PMC Prophecy range. The Prophecy 1 and Prophecy 5 arrived first and we have been throwing everything at them. The new range of PMC speakers work exceptionally well with our Hegel amplifiers – the Prophecy 9’s match perfectly with the Hegel H600. We have tried them on a few others including some trade in amps from Moon and Naim but nothing so far has nailed that synergy between the amp and speakers like the new Hegel range does. The Prophecy 9 speakers have just landed in store so are warming up on the larger Hegel H600. Straight out of the box ( a particularly well designed box at that) and running cold the speakers sound like a bigger brother of the Prophecy 5 as you would expect but with more of all the good bits. A few more hours of running and we can check to see if the top Hegel integrated amp  works with the top PMC Prophecy or if they might just reach a little higher.

All the prophecy models relay the scale of a music or movie performance way beyond their room-friendly forms suggest, but the flagship prophecy9 will exceed all expectations in terms of soundstage, dynamics and sheer musical enjoyment.
