October 2021: The NAD T778 is still going strong and one of our main recommendations for an AV amplifier. With a built in streamer, nine channels of excellent amplification and Dirac room equalisation the NAD T778 is loaded with useful features. The main event though is the sound quality , it is sensational for the money. 

March 2020: We have installed the first half dozen NAD T778’s and this new model continues to impress. Very few AV amplifiers can play music to any decent level and most are a compromise with a lot of clever marketing. The T778 holds a tune like a stereo amplifier and that quality of sound plays out when watching a movie. The soundtrack is such a crucial part of a film and is instrumental in the cinema experience so maintaining composure of the music is a must for us.  The NAD uses the DIRAC room equalisation software properly and polishes the superb native sound rather than a wholesale re-writing of the sound.  So far the NAD T778 is our top pick, if you were considering a 9ch AV amplifier around £2000 then the extra investment in the NAD is more than worth it. If you were thinking about spending more then I would save your money. The NAD M33 ( the dedicated 2ch product with Dirac ) will be with us later in the year and we cannot wait to give that a whirl.
