We have a Trinnov Amethyst for sale with mic. We don’t see the Amethyst as a pre-owned item very often as they are very hard to beat as a stereo pre-amp with room eq. We love what Trinnov do. We install the Altitude cinema processor most often but many years ago the first introduction to the brand was the ST2-Hi-Fi and the Amethyst pre-amplifier. The principle at play here is the same as we see on the Altitude where room equalisation is a standard facility. There is nothing standard about the sound the Trinnov offers though and the place of room equalisation in a 2ch hi-fi system can not be underestimated. Bass traps and scatter panels diffusing or absorbing sound is all fine and well but correctly adjusting the response in room moves the sound on significantly. The Trinnov Amethyst and ST2 Hi-Fi have a variety of parameters to adjust and these can be increased or decreased as need be – this way we can iron out some of the issues with your room while maintaining the character of the speakers you have invested in. If you are looking at real bass performance with a subwoofer in a hi-fi system then the merits of the Trinnov increase further. With the correct integration and time alignment bass can be thunderous but also completely integrated to your sound – as if the subwoofer was invisible.
