The Esoteric C-03Xs is a reference-grade stereo pre-amplifier designed and manufactured in Japan, incorporating technology derived from Esoteric’s flagship Grandioso range. Its fully balanced dual-mono architecture, substantial power supply and Esoteric-QVCS (Quad Volume Control System) are designed to deliver exceptional transparency, channel separation and extremely low distortion.

This example is particularly desirable as it is fitted with Esoteric’s optional VUK MM/MC phono stage, converting the RCA3 input into a dedicated high-quality turntable input. The phono module supports both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges, with 52dB MM and 72dB MC gain, while MC loading can be switched between 20, 100 and 300 ohms to suit different cartridges.

The C-03Xs also features Esoteric’s HCLD high-current output circuitry, precision-machined controls and an exceptionally rigid multi-compartment chassis engineered to minimise vibration and electrical interference. With a quoted frequency response extending to 1Hz-200kHz, S/N ratio of 116dB and distortion as low as 0.0004% via XLR, it was designed as the control centre for uncompromising high-end stereo systems.

At approximately 28kg, the C-03Xs is exceptionally substantial for a pre-amplifier, reflecting the extensive power supplies, shielding and mechanical engineering employed throughout.
